My Profile

Born in Kuwait, I grew up as the eldest daughter in a family consisting of 4 daughters and 2 sons. My upbringing was typical and I was a quiet and shy little girl with noticeable educational skills, especially in the English language, which later became my specialty and then my profession.

My family, originally from Palestine, used to visit Jordan every other year as most of our relatives reside there. In 1990, we traveled to Jordan thinking that we will go back to Kuwait in a matter of a month or two, but as the Gulf War was waged, my parents decided that they will reside in Jordan permanently because it may not be safe to do otherwise. So, we were enrolled in Jordanian schools to pursue our studies. I was in the tenth grade at that time. Since the time I finished high school, my life has never been going steadily. There were different happy moments such as the time when my sister and brother graduated to be a GP and an engineer respectively, and there were times of sadness and sorrow when my father passed away. I also could not pursue high education immediately after high school, but rather I joined Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) in the year 2000, and I graduated in 2003 from the faculty of Applied English with a degree of ‘Distinguished’.

Since that time I have been working as a translator in different places. I worked as an editor and translator for a newspaper as part of my training course required by the university. To read some of my articles published in the newspaper, click on ’My Articles’

I have also worked as a translator for a trading company, and later on, I worked as a translator and interpreter for a charitable association called Friendship Association of the Blind. My work with this association in particular has changed a lot in me as a person. It was such an enlightening experience that enriched my understanding abundantly as I was introduced to a world I absolutely had no idea about in the past, the world of the blind persons. It has added a lot to my personal perspective into life and it has brought me closer to a better realization for the being and the well being of my blind human brethren. I have also acquired a higher sense of similarity and closeness towards the different inhabitants of the Earth as I mixed with people from various origins and nations. This was due to my interpretation work, which took me to different places and countries, thus getting me closer to other parts of the world. To read more about my trips, click on ’My Trips’

I have always considered myself to be an open-minded person with a high sense of humanity and understanding, but my work with this association was reinforcing and very enlightening. It has left an imprint on my mind as well as on my soul.

Now I work as an editor and translator for an IT company, and I am full of hope that the future is hiding more for me. My faith in God never ceases to exist and my optimism is endless.
